The Martinez Brothers May 2015 dates

“We made these tracks while we were off… We wanted to thank all our fans who have supported us and bought tickets to our shows last year & hope you know we appreciate you guys!! so we’re giving you a collection of tracks for free download so you can check out what we’ve been up to.”  – Steve and Chris, The Martinez Brothers

Bass heavy tech house cuts are the predominant flavor of the EP, showing off what the brothers Steve and Chris do best – club ready jams for dark warehouse parties and late nights. ‘4 Day Weekend’ and ‘Talkin and Talkin’ ooze with a funk-fueled flair over a hard hitting, 4 to the floor, drum rack. Channelling New York City’s rich underground history on ‘L’s for Cream Cheese’, spacey laser stabs and rattling percussions sit delightfully together, probing flashbacks to Frankie Bones and Joey Beltram’s vision of New York house in the early 90s.

Intros, outros, and interludes gingerly weave through the EP, adding a touch of hip-hop and avant garde brush strokes to what is predominantly a collection of tech house. In all, the EP is a master class in proper house music, carried out by one of the hottest acts in the underground game – The Martinez Brothers. Best of all, DJs and fans alike will rejoice in all 10 tracks being available for free – a rarity in present day music culture.

About The Martinez Brothers.

The Martinez Brothers, two young men from the Bronx, raised on their father’s love of the Paradise Garage and road-tested worldwide since before they left high school are emerging as leaders in the global house music market. Earlier this year, The Martinez Brothers broke into the world of high fashion by traveling to Paris to provide music for Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy Menswear and Womenswear Fall / Winter 2014 /15 collections. The track “Flawless” has already been featured in a Style.com exclusive preview of the Nike RT Air Force 1 Collection, offering a first glimpse of Riccardo Tisci’s collaboration with Nike.

This year alone the guys have been all over Europe and the Americas, they’ve premiered in Australia, and have plans for a tour of Asia. While on the road they created a behind-the-scenes Coachella photo diary for Rolling Stone and Nylon. Production-wise, they’ve laid down some studio tracks with the legendary Nile Rodgers and have collaborated with Spanish Harlem-born hip hop star Bodega Bamz on his forthcoming mixtape. Despite the whirlwind of activity, Chris and Steve remain positive, down-to-earth guys. When asked about their achievements, they always humbly reply, “We are so blessed!”

The brothers have quite a few label projects at the moment as well. Their very own Cuttin’ Headz imprint aims to deliver Steve and Chris’ unique style and taste for tech house, while also shining light on their hip-hop and urban influences. In Seth Troxler they have a perfect running mate for their other label, Tuskegee, a project that sees them showcase the proper history of house music and its heavy roots in black and latino culture in America.
